Hi everyone!

I’ve realized that a lot of my clients are not sure what steps to take after we shoot headshots or they get busy with life and haven’t taken the time to choose their headshots. I want all of you to start booking commercials, film, and tv work right away, so I’ve decided to do a short video to explain what to do after your session!

At this point, you have received an electronic proof sheet with your headshots. Normally we have taken 3 looks and sometimes I’ve done a 3/4 or full-length shot.

For acting you will need head and shoulder headshots, looking directly in the camera.

I’m going to keep this as simple as I can:

If you are smiling with teeth. You have a commercial headshot that will be used for Commercials on TV

If you are serious, or a variation of serious- slight smile or a little attitude those are going to be used for film and television.

You as an actor need both a commercial and theatrical shot. I also shoot something that is more uniquely you. It may be another commercial or a theatrical but I always think it is important to capture a unique headshot that is going to make the agent or casting director look twice.

Ok, how on earth do we narrow them down, Kelsey shot over 100 images!!!

If you have an agent they will usually choose.

If you don’t we can help you.

Look first at only smiles with teeth. Pull the favorite ones, 5-10 and send them to me and we can give you our advice.

Next look at serious, (not angry, not a grin or a smirk). Again pull the favorite ones 5-10, send them to me and we can give you our advice.

Next, pull the ones that are uniquely you. A smirk, a different hairstyle or a clothing change that captures your attention. Again pull the favorite ones, 5-10, send them to me and we can give you our advice.

Next, you need to put your name and border and give the photos a light retouch to make each shot pop. We can do that as part of our add-on services, OR you are free to take them to another photo reproduction house.
